Today, after one brutal workout utilizing a heavy keg, a TCS athlete gathered his wits and made an observation that was pretty awesome.
Dr. Brad Love stated to me that, "He was impressed by the quality of people that continue to come to TCS."
I thought about this for a split second and blurted out in a joking matter, "I know! None of them are assholes."
He agreed, but then further explained by saying with a smile, "You're right, none of them are assholes, but that's not even present on this scale. These are top-notch people."
Now, if that's not perfectly clear, let me try again. Dr. Love was not describing the high-quality of athleticism that each person displayed....although that characteristic is not far behind.
No. He was specifically observing that the individuals that frequent Travis County Strength have certain qualities about them as people - not necessarily just as athletes - that make them top-notch.
This is an important distinction to make. In fact, I would much rather be known as a coach that makes people better, rather than a coach that builds great athletes.
What's really exciting is the fact that like attracts like. So, it's a safe bet that due to the nature of who trains at TCS currently, we will likely see only the best people walking through our doors with the drive to get better.
That's very exciting!
