WHY TCS DOESN'T SEE A MEMBERSHIP SPIKE

Sweat.jpg

I've been asked several times since the new year whether we (TCS) have seen a big spike in new members. Each time I explain that we don't see any extraordinary membership growth. I go on to explain that TCS is different in a couple ways:

1. We want our athletes to show up. Gyms that do in fact see spikes around this time of year don't give a shit about you or whether you actually show up. In fact, they've done the research to find that magic number that their "members" will pay and not feel bad about wasting each month when the membership is not used. They bank on you not coming in! Seems backwards, right?

Not here.

2. Our memberships are set at a higher price point and act as a filter for this kind of activity. Only people that see the value of the training they receive at TCS, as well as the sweat equity they put in to their time here are willing to invest in their monthly dues. To put this simply, you get what you pay for AND some!

We don't do half-assed, wishy-washy here. Our athletes see the value and understand there is a real-world benefit to their time at TCS. If prospective athletes are more concerned with paying the lowest price they can find, that's just fine with us. Rest assured, will never dilute our community just to get bodies in the door.

HEAVY METAL Saturdays

Given the success of the last TCS competition - Heavy Metal - Coach Nick Mounce has decided to give his Strongman-specific program a new look that I think many of you out there will really like.

Essentially, these new HEAVY METAL Saturdays will have an education/skill practice portion that will then be applied to a true Strongman workout(s). To put it simply.....you will learn - then apply. Needless to say, the variations are limitless so you'll have to be ready for anything.

Strength AND Conditioning

We all have our "thing". Some of us like to breathe heavy.... others like to lift heavy. But, if we were to only do our "thing",what do we risk when the other stuff is needed? Would you be able to perform task "X" on the other side of the fitness coin?

Look, I go through phases of only wanting to lift AHA(F)P and take my time doing so. And when that phase passes, I find myself including more movement and pace. But regardless of what I want to do, I always include the flipside.

WHY?

Because I never want to be caught off guard and unable to perform and handle....whatever comes down the pipeline. I guess you could consider my philosophy on training one of a "Prepper". You know, those people that stockpile water, gas, food, ammo, medical supplies, and whatever they may need when shit hits the fan. You may find this "prepping" mentality crazy as shit, but I like the idea and have applied  it to  training.

Being well-rounded as an person(in fitness and in life) is - in my opinion - far more valuable than being one-dimensional and as a result, being left out to dry. This is exactly why TCS is a Strength AND Conditioning gym. It's also a Conditioning AND Strength gym. See there, you can have it your way.
